Today we shall give meaning to the terms and explain deeply what they mean. Artificial intelligence, Machine learning, data science are just but a few of the terms that every one is talking about do we really get what they mean?
1. Artificial Intelligence
Taking a step back, we realize that we have two kinds of intelligence Natural intelligence and Artificial intelligence.
Intelligence is the capacity of logic, reasoning, understanding, reasoning, and thinking critically. We have Natural-intelligence, which is the form that is portrayed by living organisms from the simplest to the most complex.
Artificial Intelligence or AI is the intelligence that is demonstrated by a machine. A computer system/robot that can display behavior that is associated with intelligent beings.
2.Machine learning
This is a science that deals with making a computer to learn on its own and perform or make decisions on its own without necessarily being programmed.
This is a subset of Artificial intelligence that deals with the study of computer algorithms that learn and improve with time and experience.
3.Big Data
Is data big? what is big data?
Big data is data that requires a high processing power more complex software to analyze process due to its complexity or size. It usually appear in millions of rows which requires great statistical power.
Big data is characterized by
volume of data
variety of data
velocity during processing the data
Big data is data whose size/volume exceed the capacity of a traditional software to process within a given time frame and value.
4.Data science
Data science is an inter discipline that utilizes scientific methods algorithms and processes to extract patterns and insights in a data structure.
This field comprises of analysis and preparation for analysis, It borrows from statistics, computer science, machine learning which enables the understanding, presentation and visualization of data hence drawing meaningful conclusions.
Data science continues to gain popularity in our world with it gaining the name the name
“the sexiest job of the 21st century.”
This is a field that brings breakthroughs it is applied in the fields of medicine, transport sector, sports, gaming data science is a wide and it applications are numerous.
5.Neural networks
It is either artificial neural network or biological neural network.
Biological neural network is basically the human brain where neurons are interconnected by synapses to carryout a specific function.
Artificial neural networks are computing systems that borrow from the biological neural networks which enables a computer to learn from observational data.
This is a series of algorithms that endeavors to recognize underlying relationships in a data set.
6.Deep learning
This is a branch of machine learning algorithms that uses layers to progressively extract features from the raw data input. In image processing, lower layers identify edges, while higher layers identify the concepts relevant to a human such as digits or letters or faces.
7.Computer Vision
This is a field that deals with how a computer gains understanding from a digital image and videos. It involves enabling a computer to see, identify and process features in of an image in a similar manner that human vision is in order to give a reliable output.
8.Quantum computing
Quantum — This is a minimum amount of any physical entity. The smallest possible unit of anything.
This is the use of quantum mechanical phenomena like superposition and predicament to perform calculations. A quantum computer is a computer that is stated to be a machine that can solve complex equations and process data faster.
9.Cloud computing
This is the delivery of computing services including servers,databases,storage, software, networking and intelligence over the internet. It offers a faster innovation, flexibility of resources, and economy of scale.
Cloud computing is classified into three classes,
public cloud — They are owned and operated by a third-party cloud service providers, it deliver computing resources, like servers and storage, over the Internet.
private cloud — This are computing resources used exclusively by a single businesses or organization.
hybrid cloud — This is a combination of public and private clouds, linked together by technology that allows data and applications to be shared between them.
10.Nano technology
“There’s Plenty of Room at the Bottom.” This is the study and use of matter in the scale of 1 nano meter to 100 nano meter in size. It is a technology that plays around with the size of a material by reducing the size which in turn reduces the surface area.
This is a field that will revolutionize the fields of medicine, electronics, computing just to mention, with its promise to eradicate the small problems that affect humanity.
Nano -tech will aid in the cure of diseases and increase a computing power of the gadgets that we use in our day life.

What does it mean? we have looked at the ten fields and what they mean as they have gained hype in the recent years.
